FILTERS

What is a filter?

A filter is used to organise emails for easy access and managing the flow of incoming mails. Filters provide users with the capability of automatically directing their mails to specific labels, archives, star or even delete or forward certain mails.

How to create filters:

Log in to GmailClick on the drop down list at the far right corner of the search text box, just before the search button. This will display a window which allows you to specify your search criteria.Enter the search criteria and click on the search button to verify the search results are accurate.At the bottom of the search window click on Create filter with this search.At this point specify the action that you want the filter to perform e.g. Labelling and moving incoming messages from the inbox to certain folders or even forwarding mails to certain addresses.Click on create filter and your good to go.
Editing or Deleting Filters

This feature is used to change or update the criteria of filtering or removing filters that are no longer required.

How to edit/Delete a filter


Log in to Gmail
Click on the gear at the top right corner of the Gmail window and select settings.
Click on the filters tab and identify the filter you wish to change or remove
Click edit to update filtering criteria or Delete to remove the filter
Update the actions if relevant and click on update filter button
Exporting and Importing Filters
